Anti-money laundering & KYC policy

Ludopat is committed to preventing money laundering, terrorist financing and fraud. This policy explains the controls every account is subject to. It is written to align with the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022 and guidance for designated non-financial businesses in Nigeria.

1. Customer due diligence (KYC)

  • At sign-up: name, email (verified by code), country, state and date of birth (18+ only).
  • Before withdrawals, and before lifetime deposits pass the basic limit: full legal name, date of birth, phone, residential address, occupation, source of funds, politically exposed person (PEP) declaration, government ID number, BVN and NIN (Nigerian residents), a photo of the ID, a selfie holding the ID and a recent proof of address.
  • Every submission is reviewed by our compliance team. Incomplete, inconsistent or doubtful submissions are rejected with a reason.
  • PEPs and higher-risk customers receive enhanced due diligence and may be asked for more information.

2. How money can move

  • Deposits are only accepted through Paystack, from payment methods in the customer's own name.
  • Deposited funds can only be staked. They can never be withdrawn directly.
  • Only winnings from genuine games against other verified players can be withdrawn.
  • Withdrawals are only paid to a Nigerian bank account whose name, as confirmed by the bank, matches the verified identity. Mismatches are reviewed manually.
  • No transfers between player accounts are possible.

3. Monitoring and prevention of collusion

  • Accounts that share a device or network cannot stake against each other.
  • The number of staked games between the same two players per day is limited.
  • Games must be actively played. Winnings are held for review when a player was mostly auto-played, barely moved, resigned early or forfeited by disconnecting.
  • Large transactions, rapid activity and new accounts are flagged and reviewed before money is released.
  • Every deposit, stake, fee, payout, refund and withdrawal is recorded in a double-entry ledger with timestamps, references, IP addresses and devices, and is retained for at least five years.

4. Reporting

Where we suspect money laundering or other financial crime we may suspend accounts, withhold funds pending investigation and file reports with the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) and other competent authorities, as the law requires. We are not permitted to tell a customer that a report has been made.

5. Data protection

Identity numbers and bank details are encrypted at rest. Documents are stored privately and are only viewable by authorised compliance staff; every view is logged. See our privacy policy.
